Storming of the Bastille

On June 14, 1789, the people of Paris were angry. At the heart of Paris, there lay a fortress prison known as The Bastille, or more formally, Bastille St. Antoine. The Bastille held common prisoners such as forgers, swindlers, and crooks, but also people held for religious blasphemy. But to the citizens of France, it was thought to be an arms storage. The citizens attacked, hoping to capture the munitions. The Revolution had started.
